This is part of the Greenlight For Girls life cycle of a butterfly project:
My name is Ishaana Rao, and I am currently 15 years old, turning 16 this month. I am from Canada, and I am currently living in Singapore. I am a student, about to complete the IGCSE Course. I have been connected to Greenlight for girls for 3 years now.
In my childhood, I remember having an interest in slime. Not just because it was satisfying, but also because I had a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of adding detergent to glue and making a tangible substance from it. This was the first time my interest in STEM was sparked. Another moment in my childhood was when I used my parents’ disposable camera. I couldn’t believe that by taking pictures on a disposable camera, you were able to develop images of that very moment through the use of photosensitive cells and transferring electrons. From there, my interests flourished. I began to read science news along with my parents, as well as start to explore new topics that revolved around STEM!
